Weight Management
Most overweight clients can trace the origins and causes of their being overweight – some to their childhood eating patterns, some to a relationship break up or similar significant life events when they ‘comfort ate’ etc. Many have over-ridden their body’s natural messages, such as knowing when their stomach is full or nearly full.
This unique programme is designed to re-educate. It is based on the philosophy that if you think and feel like a slim person, then you will adopt the habits and behaviours of a slim person. Consequently you will become a slim person.
Although going to a club such as Weight Watchers, Slimming World etc promotes a better understanding of a healthy, balanced way of eating and provides support with like minded individuals, it doesn’t get to the core issues of why you are eating when you’re not hungry.
Hypnotherapy works on the mind, not on the body – so after only a few sessions you’ll find yourself automatically making better choices and returning to a more natural relationship with food. So you’ll enjoy it when you eat and eat what you wish – and in between times surprise yourself on how you now don’t obsess or think about food; instead, you’re getting on with your life.
Motivation for being more active is also included, which increases your desire to move your body more and thus burn off those unwanted pounds. This doesn’t mean signing up to a gym – although that’s a good idea – but simply taking any opportunity to move around a little bit more. You’ll be aware of having more energy – even worrying about your weight as opposed to taking action depletes your body of energy which is why so many people ‘give up’ and accept their additional weight when they don’t have to.
Each session is tailored to you – this is not a one size fits all therapy. Your reasons and challenges will be unique as you are. The amount you have to lose (or gain) will influence how many sessions you’ll need. A typical client may see me weekly or fortnightly to start with and then once a month until target weight is reached.
Let me be clear that this isn’t a diet programme. This is about returning you to your natural way of being that over time you’ve simply strayed away from. If you watch a baby feed, it’ll push away from its mother or the bottle when its had enough and cry when it wants more. This child is listening to its own body and the messages of hunger and satisfaction. Where in the wild do you see an overweight animal? It’s only when we domesticate them that issues start!
This amazing treatment will bring out the reasons behind why you are where you are. Once you accept or resolve them, you’ll then progress on your weight goals. The weight issues are simply a symptom of something else that needs your attention.
